I really need to apply for DLA but I'm completely overwhelmed by the process, and now I see that it's being replaced in April by something else.

What' would the best way to proceed be? Should I wait until the change or apply now?

Any advice would be really welcome and very gratefully received Smile

hi Louisa ...

If you are eligible then apply now or before 8th April this year , for the eligibility criteria see the links on my post here... remembering that you have to have had the needs for 3 months and expect to have them for at least a further 6 months

There is no doubt that the line to qualify for help has been moved to a higher threshold for the Personal Independance Payment .

Key is medical evidence to support your caim and it is an idea to keep a diary of issues of care and mobility needs that you face .

Best way to claim in this instance is to use the Telephone Claim line 0800 88 22 00 since if you apply now by telephone and you return the form within six weeks then the claim will be dated from the day you call the claim line.
If you use the pdf online form then it will not run from until you send the form back.

Hope this helps

Rich :)

Louisa. One of the changes from dla to PIP is that whereas dla had a 'lower rate care' component of around £20 per week, PIP does away with this completely. You would need to have quite a level of disability to qualify now. Apply anyway as it can't hurt. Look at NRAS's advice on claiming dla. Good luck xxx
